Finding and reading this book has kicked off a Dimsie reread not a complaint never a complaint with Dimsie and made me determined to read all of themThis was a bit strange as it was later renamed Dimsie Goes to School because well that s what it is The Senior Prefect of the title is Dimsie s cousin Daphne who has to deal with the kind of mean girl nonsense that apparently hasn t changed in nearly a century This might be why I continue to love school stories the best ones are so good because they get the characters right and that s not something that changesThere are elements which are familiar a new Head making changes the reactions to said changes schoolgirl strikes and then some which are a bit out there because this is DFB I can t remember which book it is but at some point there s a bear in a car references to the Head Girl saving a Junior from German spies counterfeit coins a burglary ring and a spot of breaking and entering to confirm said burglary ring The nearness to WW1 stood out I think this is the earliest school story I ve read and certainly the one where the war still had a presence There are sandbags spies again especially as this is mentioned in passing I want details the effects of shell shockPTSD on civilians as well as soldiers and a reference to Armistice Day and the hope that it will always be celebratedAll in all pretty awesome and a reminder of why I enjoy DFB so much And nice to read this book at last after it is referenced a lot in later Dimsies The Urantia Book it was later renamed Dimsie Goes to School because well that s what Zoo Life Couldn't Get Any Wilder it Singapore Penang Street Food is The Senior Prefect of the title The Web and The Wing is Dimsie s cousin Daphne who has to deal with the kind of mean girl nonsense that apparently hasn t changed The Web and The Wing in nearly a century This might be why I continue to love school stories the best ones are so good because they get the characters right and that s not something that changesThere are elements which are familiar a new Head making changes the reactions to said changes schoolgirl strikes and then some which are a bit out there because this Vernon Downs is DFB I can t remember which book An Alpha's Trust Fated Mate #1 it Yahweh's Wife Sex in the Evolution of MonotheismA Study of Yahweh Asherah Ritual Sodomy and Temple Prostitution Woman in History is but at some point there s a bear The Love Childs Mother in a car references to the Head Girl saving a Junior from German spies counterfeit coins a burglary ring and a spot of breaking and entering to confirm said burglary ring The nearness to WW1 stood out I think this Rian Field is the earliest school story I ve read and certainly the one where the war still had a presence There are sandbags spies again especially as this The Gypsys Song is mentioned Prayers of the Eucharist it will always be celebratedAll Dragon Age in all pretty awesome and a reminder of why I enjoy DFB so much And nice to read this book at last after Origins Rising it Keteknikan Videografi is referenced a lot Beware a Scot's Revenge in later Dimsies
