I had never read Frankenstein before this so it was uite a shock to me especially the length it s SO short This is a great story and a true gothic novel but it also makes the reader uestion what gothic really means Is science gothic or just the supernatural In this edition the reader is also introduced to letters from Shelley herself contextual essays in relation of Frankenstein This is a great edition for students who must work with Frankenstein ie write an essay on it as the contextual material helps a lot Great read When I have the time I ll probably re read it But first I d love to read the 1823 edition and see how much Shelley changed it after the death of her husband Perhaps it ll be freeing
